Badbury Rings

An Iron Age hill fort of considerable importance; it is also a most impressive landmark with three of its circular earthworks rising to its tree clad summit.

Probably the site of a decisive battle between Vespasians's Roman legions and local tribes, the fort was taken over by the invaders and may have become important as a staging point as Roman Roads from Old Sarum to Dorchester and Bath to Poole crossed here.
