Wareham is a town of great character with a history stretching back over 2000 years. It is situated between the Rivers Piddle and Frome and is surrounded on three sides by earthen defences dating back to the time of Alfred the Great. The town is a good shopping centre, and the Wareham Museum houses a collection of Lawrence of Arabia's (T.E. Lawrence) photographs and ephemera.
