Back to Dorset

Weymouth

A modern seaside resort with its wide esplanade and gardens following the beautiful sweep of the bay. The town, however, contains much of interest, particularly from its connections with the Georgian period. Here, George III tried the wonders of bathing and so established Weymouth on the map as a place for recreation. Many of the buildings in the town date from this period but its history goes back for many centuries before.
