Southampton
Southampton, one of the main gateways to the UK from mainland Europe, is the largest city in Hampshire. The port has been a departure point for many emigrants and also has a long association with cruise liners, including the recently launched Queen Mary II and, not so recently, the SS Titanic. The port operates regular ferry services to France and the Isle of Wight. The city is close to the New Forest and is served by the M27 motorway, which links to the rest of the UK motorway network.
